What we do
Mycosource is a Canadian company specializing in sawdust spawn production for the outdoor hardwood log inoculation of Shiitake, Oyster, and Lion’s Mane mushrooms. We produce sawdust spawn for grow-your-own cultivators for outdoor log inoculation as well as sawdust kits and grow blocks for indoor growers of all sizes. For cultivators who want to produce their own growing substrates we produce grain spawn, agar plate cultures, liquid syringe inoculants, and autoclave filter patch bags. We offer specialized tools and supplies, give workshops, share information and resources, and offer annual pick-up & demo days at Fun Guy Farm located in Southern Ontario.
What we produce

What is spawn
Spawn is living mycelium grown on hardwood sawdust. It is produced seasonally on a custom order basis and ships ‘just-in-time’ for the spring outdoor log inoculation season in April-May-June. Spawn, kits and ‘grow blocks’ as well as agar plates and syringes are living products prepared and shipped on a custom order basis from March until December.
What is a kit
A kit is living mycelium grown on supplemented hardwood sawdust. Kits are indoor ‘grow blocks’ and are produced seasonally on a custom order basis. Kits/grow blocks can be ordered individually during the outdoor season and can also be ordered in larger quantities outside of the outdoor log inoculation season. Orders for 10 or more kits/grow blocks can be ordered from March until January; large/wholesale orders of kits / grow blocks are priced according to number ordered (subject to quantity discounts) and are for pick up at Fun Guy Farm; to avoid shipping during cold weather.

mushrooms both indoors and outdoors. This includes woodlot owners and farmers as well as
hobbyists who want to grow mushrooms in their kitchens, or their backyards, or on their
balconies. We strive to support growers of all sizes and experience levels. We vow to provide
high quality spawn and kits as well as information and resources for our customers to help them
have successful mushroom cultivation projects.
